James - Vital Signs: God Greatest Gifts

Message & Notes from 10/28/18

God's Greatest Gifts?

James 1:21-25

Therefore, get rid of all moral filth and the evil that is so prevalent and humbly accept the word planted in you which can save you.

22 Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.23 Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror 24 and, after looking at himself, goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. 25 But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it—not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it—they will be blessed in what they do.

God's greatest gifts to us are a new heart for Him and the Bible that teaches us how to use that new heart .

"...humbly accept the word planted in you"

The promise, the fulfillment of the promise and the ongoing benefits of the promise are all gifts.

 Ez 31:26 , Jer 31:33

"...deceive yourselves..."

RECEIVE and DO!!! Don't just check the box, put it off until later or compare yourself to someone else. God has this great gift for us and wants it to be enjoyed and put to use.

"...perfect law that gives freedom.."

"...blessed in what they do..."

God's Word to us is a gift meant for our good. It is meant to keep us on track with Him and and each other.
